Brian Malski. Born in Detroit to second generation Polish American parents, Brian is the oldest of four children of Jane (Janina) and Bernard (Bernardus). He attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Grade School and then went on to Cass Technical High School from which he graduated in 1974. Brian continued his education at the University of Michigan, completing his studies with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, Brian was employed by General Dynamics but soon transferred to automaker Chrysler Corporation where he worked on numerous vehicle programs in varied product engineering roles for 37 years. While at Chrysler, he became active in the community volunteering at the Red Cross, the Parade Company, Human Services Agency, and local youth events.

Recently retired, Brian is now spending time traveling with his wife Patty, working on several home renovation projects, and catching up on a few of his hobbies as well becoming more involved in supporting and attending local and national Polish American cultural programs and events.

Brian first became first involved in Detroit area Polonia as a member of the Friends of Polish Art in 2004 and he has continuously served on its Board since 2010 as either President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President or Director. In addition, Brian has chaired the FPA Scholarships, Nominating and Szopka Competition committees and has also co-chaired and/or served on the Wigilia, Święconka, The Passenger Opera (2015), Kubinski Fine Art Competition and the 2024 Poland Art Exhibition committees. His other responsibilities are managing the organization’s social media platforms and co-editor of its newsletter.

Besides being an active member in FPA, Brian is presently serving as a Director on the Boards of the American Council for Polish Culture and Polish American Congress and is chair of ACPC Eye of the Eagle Walter Zachariasiewicz Scholarship. He also serves on the Polish Doy Parade committee – Michigan PAC Chapter and is a member of the West Side Detroit Polish American Historical Society, American Polish Cultural Society, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, and an alumnus of the Delta Deuteron Chapter of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

Brian has quite an interest in sports and has previously played for many years on several senior baseball and recreational softball teams. lf there has been a moment in which he would refer to as his “15 Minutes of Fome”, it would be when he walked out on the ball diamond at CoAmerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers and threw out the first pitch at the Polish American Game in 2021. He also enjoys skiing, tennis, cooking, and attending live theatre, art shows, music concerts, sporting events and Polish festivals.
