The Polish Day Parade in Warren is this Saturday, and the Polish Weekly just got a sneak peek at the float, which is being finished at the Parade Company Studio, located in a former Chrysler plant in Detroit. Supervising the finishing touches were PAC Parade Committee members Barbara Lemecha, Ania Bankowski, Brian Malski, and Patty Malski.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Macomb County Prosecutor, Peter J. Lucido. The float’s theme is “Celebrating Polish-Italian Friendship” and the main figure on the float is Queen Bona Sforza. Queen Bona is credited with introducing different vegetables to Poland, such as lettuce (sałata), beans (fasola), leeks (pory) and artichoke (karczoch). On the list are also tomatoes (pomidory), broccoli (brokuły) and asparagus (szparagi).
The design of the float is the result of the collaborative work of the Polish Day Parade Committee and the professionals from the Parade Company.
See you at the Polish Day Parade in Warren, where together we are going to celebrate Polish heritage!
